Flexibility Is a Practice
A flexibility class is built around a simple idea: we become more flexible by practicing flexibility.
We stretch carefully. We pay attention to resistance. We learn when to push a little farther and when to pause. We understand that progress cannot always be rushed or forced.
The same is true in life and leadership.
Flexibility does not mean having no boundaries. It does not mean bending until we break, changing our values, or adjusting ourselves to meet every demand placed upon us.
True flexibility is the ability to adapt without losing our center.
Plans change. Circumstances shift. People respond in unexpected ways. The strategy that worked yesterday may not work today. Flexibility allows us to reconsider the route without abandoning the destination.
It also reminds us that not every situation requires the same response. Some moments ask us to hold firm. Others ask us to listen, adjust, reconsider, or make room for a different way forward.
Like physical flexibility, emotional and professional flexibility develop through practice. Each time we pause before reacting, consider another perspective, or revise a plan that is no longer serving its purpose, we stretch our capacity.
This week, consider where you may be holding too tightly to one expectation, one plan, or one way of doing something.
You do not have to abandon what matters.
You may simply need to breathe, adjust your position, and create space for another way forward.
