“Sometimes school spirit is really just belonging, made visible.”~ Dr. Catherine V. Addor

Homecoming week is full of noise, color, music, packed bleachers, pep rallies, banners, dress-up days, and traditions that can look, from the outside, like simple fun.

Underneath it all is something much more important.

Belonging.

For students, moments like these can help turn a building into a community. They create shared memories, common experiences, and small opportunities to feel connected to something larger than yourself.

Not every student shows school spirit in the same way. Some are in the center of the pep rally. Some are in the stands. Some perform, play, cheer, decorate, organize, or simply watch from the edge.

Belonging does not require everyone to participate in exactly the same way.

What matters is that everyone has room to see themselves as part of the story.

Maybe that is one of the best things about traditions like homecoming. For a few days, community becomes visible.
