Mindful Monday

The Work Behind the Work
Labor Day gives us a reason to step away from the usual pace and recognize the work that keeps our communities, families, schools, businesses, and lives moving forward.
It is also a good reminder that not all work is visible.
Some work comes with a title, a paycheck, or a finished product. Other work looks like caring for someone, encouraging a child, managing a household, building something slowly, starting over, learning something new, or simply continuing when no one else sees how much effort it takes.
Today, take a moment to notice the work you usually rush past.
Ask yourself:
What work am I proud of right now?
Whose effort have I benefited from without really acknowledging it?
Where am I working hard at something that may not have visible results yet?
What would it look like to value rest as part of the work rather than a reward for finishing it?
A few things to try this week:
Thank someone whose work often goes unnoticed.
Give yourself credit for progress that is still in progress.
Protect a little time for rest without feeling the need to “earn” it.
Remember that meaningful work is not always measured by how busy you look.
Labor Day may honor work, but it can also remind us that people are more than what they produce.
May today hold a little gratitude for the work behind us, a little grace for the work still ahead, and enough rest to return to it with purpose.
