Mindful Monday: Finding Balance

Ballet often looks effortless from the audience. What we do not see are the hours of practice, repeated corrections, sore muscles, missed steps, and moments of frustration that came before the performance.
Ballet teaches us to pay attention to the smallest details. The placement of a foot, the direction of the eyes, the position of a hand, and the timing of a breath all matter. There is mindfulness in that level of focus.
A dancer cannot stay stuck on the step they just missed. The music continues, and the next movement is already beginning. They must notice the mistake, make an adjustment, and keep going.
There is an important lesson in that for all of us.
Corrections are not always criticism. Sometimes they are evidence that someone sees what we are capable of becoming. Growth happens when we listen, adjust, practice, and try again.
Ballet also reminds us that strength and grace can exist together. Progress may feel slow, but each small correction moves us closer to something that once felt impossible.
This Mindful Monday, take a breath, find your balance, and keep moving forward. The music is still playing.
