"NO ONE TRAINED US FOR THIS”: A Narrative Inquiry into Parent/Caregiver Engagement
and the
COVID-19 Global Pandemic
This dissertation explores the experiences of parents and caregivers as they navigated their children's K-12 education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using narrative inquiry methodology and grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, the study captures personal stories that highlight challenges, adaptations, and long-term impacts on family-school partnerships. The research reveals key themes such as shifts in parental engagement, the role of technology, and strategies for sustaining meaningful collaboration between families and schools beyond times of crisis. The findings offer insights and recommendations for educators and policymakers seeking to strengthen parent-teacher relationships and build resilient educational communities
